The Kabir Panthi Maha Sabha branch since its creation has done commendable works in the propagation of the teachings of kabir saheb and its bhajans throughout the island. The activities held each year gives a boost to the propagation of kabir philosophy throughout the island and the feedback they get is always praiseworthy.
It was for the first time since the existence of Kabirpanth that hold a world conference on kabir Saheb outside mother India. This conference was held in the auditorium of MGI on 1993 whereby delegates from several countries [India, Surinam, Trinidad, Canada, France, Guyana, Australia, etc] attended this conference among which there was the presence of late Acharya Bhagwandass Kabirpanthi who was the World Secretary of Kabirpanth. The latter since his temporary stay in Mauritius helped in the creation of the Kabir Panthi Maha Sabha, and since then this organization with the help of all its members and well-wishers have organized several programs at national and international level to be in line with the aims and objectives of spreading the Kabir philosophy and teachings.
The conference held in 1993, aim to establish world Kabir Panthi Maha Sabha branches in all countries where there are Kabirpanthis. In the souvenir magazine of Dwitiya Antarashtriya Sat Guru Kabir Sammelan , pg 19 it is said –
“………the conference desires that Sri Kabir and his works be acclaimed as belonging to the cultural heritage not only of India but of humanity. For this objective to materialize works of good standard must be presented to the UNESCO. It is good to note that the UNESCO has already produced some fine work on world teacher Shri Sadguru Kabir.”
The association in collaboration with Ministry of Arts and Culture organized a National Kabir Bhajan Competition in 1993 to promote the teachings and philosophy of Sadguru Kabir. The final was held at MGI in the presence of delegates from other countries and also the different ministers and it is to be noted with great joy that the winner for this competition was Dr. Mrs Anita Seegoolam.
